Sally Terrell Smith

Sally Smith was born and raised in Ft. Worth, Texas. She came to Houston to major in English at Rice University. After graduation she stayed at Rice to study British Literature. She taught at Texas Southern University for two years and then continued her studies at the University of Texas in Austin, taking courses in medieval English literature. She says that learning Old English, an arcane language that no one speaks, was a great preparation for software training.

Sally began teaching computer classes when information was scarce, and people were eager to learn. In 1991 she joined EEI Communications in Alexandria, Virginia, to add computer training to EEI’s nationally known editorial classes. She became a Vice President in 1993.

A growing team of instructors prepared learners for the explosion of opportunities that occurred when tools– formerly out of reach to any but high-end design or video studios –moved to Macs and PCs.

Sally founded Connect Learning in 1999 and opened a center in southwest Houston on July 5, 2000. Since 2002 Connect Learning has been on the Houston Business Journal’s list of the 25 Largest Computer Training Companies every year. In June 2007 Adobe recognized Connect Learning as one of their top Six Adobe training centers worldwide.

Metrics That Matter hosts and analyzes Adobe’s Authorized Training Partner evaluations. Their Executive Report Card shows Connect Learning’s metrics for 2007 and year-to-date in 2008 to be 5 to 8% higher on every item in the report than the benchmark of the very able Adobe Training Partners as a whole.
